In a society in which we people are expected to work long hours and are always conditioned to be productive— here are the 3 most compelling reasons why you should take out some time for self-care.
You Experience Less Stress!
Research shows that systemic racism is a daily experience for people of color, and, regrettably, this experience is frequently stressful and psychologically damaging.
Because almost all people of color are somehow survivors of systematic racism and are accustomed to putting others' needs ahead of their own, the concept of self-care is viewed as a luxury that they don't bother to have.
Self-care, on the other hand, can be an effective wellness tool for promoting mental and physical well-being. Self-care enables one to discover activities or methods that promote personal wellness.
Self-care allows you to function at your peak!
Essentially, self-care is a means of preserving equilibrium so that you can take care of all of your various needs in order to keep yourself going.
In other words, consistently prioritizing a deadline over scheduling a workout or a healthy meal may cause you to become less productive in the long run.
Improve Physical Health
You are more satisfied with life on the inside if you feel better on the outside. Working on your physical health is an essential aspect of self-care. Going to the gym for just an hour thrice a week is an example of self-care.
When you exercise, you improve both your physical appearance and your physical health. You're also releasing happy hormones, which are known to improve mood.
Self-care doesn’t Demand Your Whole Freakin’ Day!
Yes! You heard that right. You don't have to give yourself several uninterrupted hours each day or even entire days. Naturally, that would be nice, but it's not necessary to understand the benefits of self-care.
Eat properly. Get enough sleep. Wake up early in the morning and do some yoga and exercise. Take some time out and go for a walk in the evening. Before going to bed, read a book from your favorite author for mind nourishment. This all involves self-care.
So let’s go!
